Customers ask “What does D and S stand for?” Well it’s David and Susan, the husband and wife team that started D and S over 29 years ago.
Coming from an electrical background, David could see the need for supplying fully reconditioned domestic appliances, especially as the company started at the height of the 1988/90 recession.
From our small start in Woodham Park Road, Woodham, Surrey, David refurbished all types of domestic appliances and built up a strong demand from the local people.
In 1992 we moved to larger premises in 7 Ongar Parade, Ongar Hill, Addlestone, our current location.
In 1998 Our son James joined the company (now it would be David and Son for D and S!) We are still a family-run company, with Susan looking after the retail side while David and James organize the deliveries and installations in our own vans.
In 2002 we introduced gas and electric fires, and wood and marble surrounds to our retail mix. We were appointed a Valor and Baxi centre and are still the only fire and surround centre in Addlestone.
In 2005 with the demand for reconditioned appliances being replaced with cheaper new products from abroad, we introduced our own brand appliances through our main distributors. These are high quality at very competitive prices, and complement the other major brands stocked, e.g. Bosch, Whirlpool, AEG, Zanussi, Hotpoint, Indesit and many, many more.
In 2007 we teamed up with Tim, our local engineer, who still looks after all our in-home and on-site or customer appliance repair needs.
In 2010, while we had looked after the needs of a few landlords and letting agents, our services became a must have for over 30 letting agents and landlords (including Townends, County Property, Mannevs Brown, Pearce & Co) who needed our expertise installing all types of domestic appliances, especially fully integrated washing machines, fridge freezers, dishwashers, etc.
The internet suppliers did not have the experience or the tools to offer a comprehensive no-hassle installation service.
With our extensive knowledge we can overcome all the problems of installing, including electrical connections, plumbing etc. Our streamlined customer contact includes contacting tenants to make sure the correct appliances are delivered, arrange delivery times to suit, normally within half an hour, or pick up the keys so they do not have to take time off work.
In 2016 David and Susan, James and Tim are proud of offering the local community a family-run company that has their interests at heart.
